Welcome!
What you will find as you take the time to browse through these pages are the astonishing details which resulted in the imprisonment of an innocent man.
The story that unfolds within is true.
Each and every event depicted actually took place.
Not a single name, date, or location has been changed.
The motivation for sharing these true-life events is not simply to raise public awareness of this one man's plight, but to also serve as a public warning. Not only do truly innocent men and women find themselves arrested for crimes they did not commit, they do far too often also find themselves sitting in jail or prison cells in various states of shock, confusion and bewilderment, asking themselves and anyone who will listen:
"In a country where a person is supposedly Innocent Until Proven Guilty, how did this happen? How could any innocent person end up here?"
The most daunting question they ask is:
"What can be done about it now?"
- Contrary to popular belief, most of the innocent men and women who currently reside in county jails and federal prisons have very little experience with the police or the courts systems. For many, this was their first arrest. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, they were unable to hire their own private defense attorney, and had to accept the attorney randomly appointed by the judge when they first appeared in court. Because they are innocent, they refused the Plea Bargain Deal offered to them by their Court Appointed Defense Attorney and the Prosecutor.
- A Plea Bargain is the minimum charge or offense and jail or prison term the prosecutor is willing to accept at the time. Accepting this Plea Bargain requires a person plead guilty to what is considered a somewhat lesser offense or the lesser of multiple offenses for which the person was charged by the police.
- Knowing they are innocent, they believed they would receive a fair trial. They also believed that there was no possible way they could be found guilty of any crime or crimes they did not commit by a group of twelve reasonable intelligent people.
They had no idea how mistaken they were when they made these assumptions.
The true tragedy of this tale
This does not just happen on tv or in movies
Not only did it happen to Mr. Donald C. "Mac" McDonald...
Not only has it happened to countless others who now find themselves in county jails and federal prisons scattered across these United States of America...
The true tragedy is...
It happens every day in courts across America...
And it could happen to you or someone you love.
Remember that although at times Mac's story reads like fiction, it is not...
Each and every event depicted actually took place.
Not a single name, date, or location has been changed.
Please, grab a cup of coffee, and come on in...
